Photos From Inside the Fukushima Nuclear Exclusion Zone

Photographer, Arkadiusz Podniesinski, was recently given access to the 20 km Fukushima Nuclear exclusion zone. The exclusion zone was established after the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear reactor meltdown, caused by damaged sustained from the Great East Japan Earthquake of magnitude 9.0 at 2.46 pm on Friday 11 March 2011.

The photos below show how quickly mother nature can reclaim areas no longer maintained by humans. It’s simultaneously beautiful and eerie.
